Syncing Istation and ClassLink

The first step requires setting up the roster so that Istation and ClassLink are synced to show the right students in the right classrooms with the right staff attached to those classes. This sync also enables ClassLink to add attributes to the Istation accounts, which will also allow the single sign-on (SSO) system to work as well. To submit the roster to us from ClassLink, you will have to export it from ClassLink first. This will typically be in the IMS Global OneRoster v1.0 or v1.1 format. That will encompass 7 or 8 (both are valid) files of a comma-separated values (CSV) format.

Both OneRoster 1.0 and 1.1 are currently supported by Istation.

Rosters

Roster files can be submitted to Istation using either the secure web-based upload or by SFTP. The web-based submission is typically used for manual roster submissions, while districts that prefer automation will use the SFTP submission. 

• Once the rostering has been accomplished, ClassLink’s optional single sign-on (SSO) feature becomes available. This is an LTI-based SSO, which Istation supports. You will need to set up the LTI settings (requiring manager access) on our site and ensure you have an attribute set to use as a third-party ID in the rosters submitted to Istation.
