How do I configure Istation for SSO (with SAML)?
Learn how to enable Single Sign-On (SSO) using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) for Istation.
You can configure and enable SSO with SAML (for teachers and students) by visiting Single Sign-On Settings.
Step-by-Step Guide
Enabling Single Sign-On (SSO)
Step 1: Visit Single Sign-On Settings.
Step 2: Select and enable SAML as the SSO technology.
Step 3: Aquire the Assertion Consumer Endpoint.
Step 4: Provide us with the Identity Provider Signing Certificate used to verify communications with the service provider.
Step 5: Specify the User ID type
- This is the field in Istation used to mate the LTI field for User ID.
- School Assigned ID is the most used (the student ID for students and ID/Employee number for teachers and managers).
- If you choose 3rd Party ID, let us know and we'll make sure we allow this third-party ID to be a field that you can include in your roster import (so we may have this in our system for SSO purposes). This field is great for any value that is not native to both student(s) and staff.
Step 6: Provide the Identity Provider Login URL used for Istation account holders to log in to their school credentials.
DeleteTeacher Login vs. Student Login
- When a teacher logs in, it will launch www.istation.com.
- When a student logs in, it will launch app.istation.com on any device besides iPads. On iPads, it will launch the Istation application.
